Request account and data deletion

Before You Delete

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data, including budgets, expenses, savings goals, and family connections will be permanently removed.

Delete your account in the app

The quickest way is from the app itself. Your account and all data are deleted straight away, with no waiting period.

Open Settings

In FamilyJar, tap your profile picture in the top right, then choose Settings.

Tap Delete Account

Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account, then confirm. This cannot be undone.

If you share a family: shared categories you created stay with the remaining member, along with their own budgets and expenses. Only your personal categories and your own expenses are removed. If you were the last member, the family is deleted too.

Or request it by email

If you no longer have the app installed, send us an email instead. We will process your request within 30 days.

Send an Email

Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".

Include Your Account Email

In your email, please include the email address associated with your FamilyJar account so we can locate and delete the correct account.

Wait for Confirmation

We will send you a confirmation email once your account and data have been permanently deleted. This process may take up to 30 days.

Send Deletion Request

What Data Will Be Deleted?

When you request account deletion, the following data will be permanently removed:

  • Your account information (email, name, profile data)
  • All budget categories you created
  • All expense records
  • All savings goals and contributions
  • Family connections and invitations
  • Notification settings and history

Important Notes

  • If you are the only parent in a family, deleting your account will also delete the family and all associated data
  • If there are other family members, they will retain access to shared data
  • We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes
  • You can create a new account at any time after deletion, but your previous data cannot be recovered
